How to become an in-network acupuncturist 3. How to avoid medical records being reviewed by the audit, and how to deal with them if they are reviewed 4. How to use EMR (such as electronic medical records and billing systems, EFT, ERA, Form 1500) 5. Medicare introduction (Medicare acupuncture regulations, acupuncture payment rate, how to bill Medicare, how to receive compensation if the doctor is not in the medicare network) 6. Rates paid by major insurance companies 7. No-Fault 8. Worker’s Compensation 9. Veteran 10. How to Bill the following major insurance companies Speaker: Bin Cai, Ph.D. (China), L.Ac. - Bin Cai received his Bachelor of Acupuncture and Tui- na from Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001, Master of Traumatology and Orthopedics from Chengdu University of TCM in 2004, and his Ph.D. in Orthopedic Biomechanics and Anatomy from Southern Medical University in 2011. He has worked as a research scholar at CUNY Biomedical Department and is an Acupuncture Fellow at the Integrative Medicine Department at Beth Israel Mount Sinai. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Phillips School of Nursing from Mount Sinai Bet Israel and is a Registered Nurse. Bin Cai is currently licensed to practice acupuncture in NY and NJ. Course 2: Acupuncture: Professional Ethics and Practice Alerts , Speaker: Yemeng Chen, Ph.D., L.Ac. Time: 07/31/2022 Sunday 10am-12pm EST (2 credits for Ethics) Course detail: The lecture will introduce Professional Ethics, Practice Alerts, and the Disciplinary Process in New York State. · Definition about Profession, Professional, Professionalism, and Ethics, Professional ethics, and Code of Professional Ethics. · Practice alerts: law enforcement, practice boundary, practitioner-patient boundary, billing guidelines, bloodborne pathogens, continuing competency, Dual relationships, equality of access, fee disputes, Guideline concerning informed consent, record keeping, assessment and treatment plans, SOAP document, patient confidentiality, and others … · Disciplinary process: professional misconduct (incompetence, gross incompetence, negligence, gross negligence, fraud, and unprofessional misconduct based on record keeping) and unprofessional conduct (abandoning or neglecting a patient or client under and in need of immediate professional care; willfully harassing, abusing or intimidating a patient either physically or verbally; failing to maintain a record for each patient which accurately reflects the evaluation and treatment of the patient; using a title of “doctor” without holding a doctoral degree.; …) Speaker: YEMENG CHEN, Ph.D., L.Ac., FICAE, is President of New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, President of the National Federation of Chinese TCM Organizations (NFCTCMO), and the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare. Dr. Chen is an Immediately past Chair of the Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), Vice President of World Traditional Medicine Forum, and also a Guest Professor in Beijing, Shanghai and Jianxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Academy of Integrative Medicine in Fudan University. He was a recipient of Pearl Wisdom Award by Acupuncture Society of New York (2015), Sailing Award for International Exchange of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2020), and Herald Long Island Excellence in Healthcare Award (2022). He has published around 60 research papers in various medical journals in different countries. He has also published over 18 professional books. Course 3: Clinical Safety seminar Speaker : Stephen D. He also obtains a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine, DTCM in Five Branches University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He currently teaches at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine as well as at NYCTCM, and conducts a private practice in both acupuncture and massage.
